Yeah, they all hold true.

How can you explain to someone what it’s like not to care? Not about yourself or the person standing next to you. I’ve lost that, the ability to feel and show affection.

Sometimes, when I chase the dragon, it thunders through my head like a drum, reminding me it still beats.

It’s still there.

My agent says I have one more shot. A single, solitary chance to stay in the music biz, but there is one massive problem.

Kbird’s Review

This is a great young adult love story. I found myself not wanting to put the book down. Each chapter kept adding more to the story of Rhye and Syn. Nicole Reed had me invested in both of them from the beginning. The way that she wrote about their lives and struggles makes the reader feel for them and want to fight for them as well. The way the author made each chapter from one of the main characters point of view gave me more insight to them personally. The writing flows effortlessly from the first chapter and immediately draws the reader into every minute detail of their lives. I was enthralled within the first two chapters and found myself rooting for each of them. I would highly recommend this book…just be prepared for a multitude of emotions. From the beginning to the very last word, I was taken on an emotional ride and I loved every minute of it.
Rhye Clark is a young rock star, who has many demons weighing on his heart. so much tragedy has happened in his short life that he feels all the guilt. In high school, he walked away from the girl he loved because he knew he wasn’t what she wanted or needed. Then a few years later, he lost his best friend to a horrifying accident. Rhye truly thinks that he is the sole cause of the bad that has occurred and turns to drugs and alcohol. He wants people to just let him be, but his record label has other ideas. They want Rhye to come to Nashville and write a duet with a young country star.
Syn Landry is a 19 yr. old up and coming country star. She is a gentle soul who wears her heart on her sleeve and will fight for what she loves, wants and needs. After losing her mother when she was 10 and trying her best to take care of her father, Syn leaves home and heads for Nashville as soon as she turn 18. That’s when Tag enters her life. She loves him and is crushed when he betrays her. When her record label ask her to write and sing a song with a rock star, she is happy to have the distraction. As soon as Syn lays eyes on Rhye, she falls hard and fast. She is determined to find the light in his soul and show him that he is worthy of love.
They both struggle with feelings that are new to them.  Can Syn help Rhye to overcome his demons and be the person she sees deep within in? Can Rhye learn to forgive himself and let go of the guilt and addictions? Can he find in his dark heart what Syn has seen from the start? Or will they be torn apart by their struggles?

I love angst….I thrive on it, but only the fictional kind. I adore a story that grips the reader from the beginning and doesn’t let go…EVER. I’m an avid reader who just recently discovered my love of writing. My favorite things in life include my three wild & crazy kids, Reese’s Pieces, and every genre of music. I reside in the Deep South.

Currently, I am writing a new adult/contemporary romance story that I can’t wait to share. I also plan to release Rhye’s story, Wasted Heart, in 2013.
